Morgan is a Metis lawyer with a passion for family law developed from working with indigenous youth and families in community programming. While she did her best to advocate for her community, she found that community programming could not address more systemic issues that community members were facing. So she decided to go to law school so she could be a more effective advocate for families and youth.
Morgan completed her law degree at the University of Victoria in 2016. During her time at UVic, Morgan completed internships in Thailand, Vietnam, and at BC's Office of the Ombudsperson. She also did a semester at the Law Centre in Victoria where she fell in love with the courtroom. Before joining Connect Family Law, Morgan worked predominantly with legal aid family law. She also helped refugees from around the world become Canadian residents.
This breadth of experience gives Morgan the skills to deal with high conflict family files, child protection issues and family violence.
Through her experience living abroad, Morgan has also developed exceptional intercultural abilities. She is truly a people person, and loves building rapport with her clients by taking the time to get to know them from a holistic perspective, including their social and emotional needs. She uses a trauma-based approach and has a keen understanding of how mental health and addiction can impact a client's family law case. This approach makes Morgan an effective advocate and negotiator.
Collaboration and problem solving are the primary focuses of Morgan's practice. She is always open to discussing settlements, even in the most high conflict cases. Morgan knows that clients need to have functional and workable relationships with their family members after separation and courtrooms often do the opposite.
Getting the result the client needs is Morgan's number one goal and she keeps her client's best interests in mind at all times, even if that means telling a client the hard truth if that's what they need to hear. Clients have no doubt they have someone in their corner who will help them when Morgan is on their side.
While family law is her passion, Morgan also loves to spend time in nature and discovering the greater Vancouver food scene. Her favourite sport is kickboxing and karaoke is her favourite creative outlet.
