Co-Parenting Apps

From scheduling pick-ups and drop-offs to tracking expenses and reimbursements, co-parenting requires constant coordination and communication which can be overwhelming to manage. Thankfully, ever-advancing technology has provided us with a solution: co-parenting apps. There are multiple apps and websites designed to make co-parenting easier, each with different features depending on your needs. Here is a breakdown of some of the most common apps:

Our Family Wizard

Our Family Wizard is the leading co-parenting app and frequently recommended by lawyers, judges, and mediators. The app is designed to be one platform for all your co-parenting needs: communicating with the other parent, tracking children’s expenses, secure calling for video/phone visits, and a shared calendar for organizing the children’s schedules. You can also invite third parties, such as your lawyer or mediator, to access the information and communications exchanged in this app. Fees start at $14 CAD/month depending on the length of your subscription and features you want included. Families in need can also apply for a fee waiver.

Custody X Change

Custody X Change is a computer application focused on creating a parenting plan. Its main feature is a calendar tool that allows you to visualize different options for parenting schedules. In addition, there are guidelines about popular parenting plans and tips to consider depending on your child’s age.  The website can be accessed for free, but there are also paid subscription options starting at $8 CAD/month that include additional features such as messaging, expense tracking, and more.

Cozi

Cozi is focused on organizing family activities. The app’s main features include a shared family calendar, collaborative to-do and shopping lists, and recipe/meal-planning. It is free to download and can be accessed from any phone or computer.

AppClose

AppClose is a one-stop shop for co-parenting needs. Features include messaging, shared calendars, expense tracking, audio/video calls, reimbursements through ipayou, and more. The app is $8.99 USD/month, with the option for a free 60-day trial. Families in need can also apply for a fee waiver.

CoParenter

CoParenter focuses on communication and a shared calendar to organize your co-parenting schedule. Unique features include simplified swap requests for days when the regular parenting schedule needs to be adjusted and location data during planned exchanges. The app starts at $9.99 USD/month depending on your subscription length and offers a free 30-day trial.
