Whether advising on family law or estates matters, Louise has a unique ability to connect with people. Naturally empathetic, thoughtful and attentive, she puts her clients instantly at ease, letting them know that their legal issues are in good hands.
Along with this genuine caring for her clients’ issues, Louise brings a focused, strategic mindset to the work she does. Skilled and determined, when it comes to managing and resolving legal disputes, she seeks a constructive, efficient result achieved with minimal expense, delay, and stress. From start to finish, Louise keeps her clients’ needs and goals at the centre of the process.
Louise’s family law expertise is wide-ranging and includes medium to high net worth financial cases; third party interests in family assets; complex company and trust structures that affect asset division or support; high-conflict parenting; and child relocation. She also advises clients who are currently in a relationship about how to create future financial certainty should their relationship one day end.
Her estate litigation practice is similarly varied, reflecting her considerable experience representing beneficiaries and executors in wills variation actions, trust claims, unjust enrichment claims, and matters challenging executors and trustees.
Following her call to the bar in October 2011 and before joining Connect, Louise worked as part of a “full-service” legal team at a Richmond firm, allowing her to develop a broad knowledge of commercial litigation, which she continues to draw on when dealing with complex financial matters in family and estates cases. An established litigator, she has appeared in all levels of courts in British Columbia as well as representing clients in a variety of alternative dispute resolution settings, ranging from settlement conferences to arbitration. For the convenience of our Chinese-speaking clients, she is also fluent in Mandarin and Cantonese.
Louise’s non-legal interests include working out, cooking, and travelling. A retired martial artist, Louise specialized in the sport of wushu, which helped her cultivate the discipline, focus, and perseverance that she now channels as a legal advocate for her clients.
In her own words: Family law is something Louise's clients live and breathe as opposed to being one very small speck in a very vibrant life. So when she can help people get through these tough times it's very rewarding.
