Co-Parenting Challenges: Lessons from Child and Family Experts

Connect Family Law invites you to be a part of its ongoing Divorce Salons, a resource for individuals dealing with separation or divorce. Combining the best of a speaker series and a meet-up group, our Divorce Salons offer participants both a learning opportunity and the chance to connect with others who are going through similar experiences.

For our January 17th Salon, we are delighted to welcome leading parenting experts and child specialists Alyson Jones MA RCC, Melissa Ander MEd RCC, and Rob Croezen MSW RSW, three members of the team of therapists at Alyson Jones & Associates specializing in separation and divorce issues. Alyson, Melissa and Rob will share the knowledge and experience they have gained after many years of supporting children, teens and their families. The Salon's focus will be on co-parenting issues faced by separated or divorced spouses, and cover topics such as:

Salon participants will have an opportunity to ask questions and to contribute as much (or as little) as they feel comfortable.

About the Presenters:

Alyson Jones, MA RCC leads the team of therapists at Alyson Jones & Associates. She is also an Adjunct Faculty Member at the Adler University and has been featured in the media sharing her extensive knowledge in regards to divorce and separation issues. Drawing on a background in Parent Education, developmental psychology, family systems, Collaborative Law, Parenting Coordination, Reunification Therapy and Co-parenting Counselling, Alyson has assisted many families in reducing conflict, staying focused on the best interests of the children and working towards a healthier resolution for the entire family.

Melissa Ander, MEd, RCC is an Individual, Child and Family Therapist and Reunification Therapist. She has extensive experience working with challenging and complex divorce situations as well as eating disorders, anxiety issues, depression and self-harming behaviours.  Melissa also specializes in enhancing parent and child/teen communication and securing the parent child attachment and is a member of the specialized Family Forward Reunification Team at Alyson Jones & Associates, which works with disrupted family attachments and parent child contact problems. She brings her knowledge of attachment, divorce and separation and neurobiology to her work with families.  Melissa is on the Family Forward training team which regularly presents on therapeutic interventions which are designed to protect children from high conflict situations. 

Rob Croezen, MSW RSW is a Divorce Coach, Co-Parenting Therapist and Child Specialist with over 30 years of professional experience working with children and families.  At Alyson Jones & Associates, he is a member of the Family Forward Reunification Team, the Child & Youth Team, and the Separation/Divorce Team. Rob regularly presents with Alyson on therapeutic interventions for divorce and separation. For the past 16 years, his practice has focused primarily on providing support to parents and children through the process of separation/divorce.  He is trained in the Collaborative Law process and has a long history of looking for solutions that focus on the best interests of the children. An active member of Collaborative Divorce Vancouver and the North Shore Family Dispute Resolution Group, he is a dispute resolution specialist and assists families in developing cooperative solutions as well as managing high conflict situations.

As Divorce Salon discussions are designed to be confidential, we will ask participants to sign a brief confidentiality document before the event. We will also complete a conflict check at the time of registration to rule out any possible conflicts of interest.

Salon events are limited to 15 participants.
